Federico Gatti Talks Derby d’Italia and Facing Inter’s Lautaro and Thuram

Start

As the highly anticipated Derby d’Italia between Inter and Juventus looms, Juventus player Federico Gatti shared insights into the pressures of playing for the Bianconeri, his thoughts on the upcoming clash, and the challenges posed by Inter’s formidable attacking duo, Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

The Derby d’Italia is set to unfold on Sunday at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan, with both teams seeking to secure a crucial victory in the Serie A title race. The November encounter between these two giants ended in a goalless draw, adding to the anticipation surrounding this weekend’s fixture.

Gatti, who transitioned from being a fan to a player experiencing the pressures of Juventus, discussed the unique challenges associated with donning the Bianconeri jersey.

“Before I watched the matches just as an ordinary fan, now instead I experience them on the pitch. At Juventus, there are pressures that cannot be explained; it’s not like playing in other teams. We have to keep our feet on the ground and aim as high as possible.”

The midfielder shared his perspective on the approaching Derby d’Italia, emphasizing the significance of the encounter.

“A very heartfelt and beautiful match. San Siro is one of the most beautiful in Europe. In my opinion, both Inter and Juventus are the two strongest teams in Italy. However, for me, it’s not a decisive match because there are still many points at stake.”

Gatti acknowledged the defensive challenge posed by Inter’s attacking duo, Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

“Lautaro and Thuram are two very strong forwards, difficult to mark. They complement each other, they have different characteristics, but the whole of Inter is strong. They’re very solid, but we’ll see…”

Looking ahead, Gatti shared his aspirations for the next phase of his career.

“The next chapter of my career is to lift a trophy; I’m sure it will happen.”
