Joshua Zirkzee continues to be the top target for AC Milan’s attacking lineup, according to renowned journalist and transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano. Speaking during a live session on SOS Fanta, Romano reiterated that Zirkzee is Milan’s primary choice to succeed Olivier Giroud as their main striker next season:
“Zirkzee is Milan’s first choice, we keep emphasizing this,” Romano stated. “Milan continues to work hard on securing him, aiming to understand the economic details of the operation from the player’s perspective, as they are already aware of the €40 million release clause applicable to all clubs. The discussions are ongoing.”
Romano also highlighted that Juventus has shown interest, making several inquiries over the past months, in typical Juve fashion. However, Milan remains firmly focused on Zirkzee:
“Giuntoli (Juventus sporting director) often tries to get involved in various negotiations, with some succeeding and others not. At this moment, Milan is very confident about Zirkzee. Whether they choose to activate the release clause, reach an agreement with the player, and proceed remains to be seen. But Milan has been working intensively on this since February, and Zirkzee remains their top target,” he explained.
Romano emphasized that Zirkzee’s priority status is independent of Milan’s coaching decisions. “Yes, Zirkzee is the first choice regardless of who the coach is,” he affirmed.
