Como’s head coach Cesc Fabregas is gearing up for a challenging match against Fiorentina, acknowledging the strength of their opponents while also addressing his team’s injury concerns. Following a recent draw in Genoa, where Como managed to secure only one point, Fabregas is focused on the importance of the upcoming game and the need to capitalize on available points.
“We will not have Mazzitelli available, who has had a problem with his calf and should return for the match against Monza,” Fabregas stated. He also mentioned that Sergi Roberto and Gabrielloni could potentially return for the match against Venezia, while Perrone is expected to be out for about six weeks. “Van der Brempt is recovering but will not be available against Fiorentina. Strefezza is doubtful, and Barba is also uncertain; we will evaluate them only on Sunday. Baselli returns, and Kone will play tomorrow with the Primavera.”
When asked about the formation for the match against Fiorentina, Fabregas indicated it would be similar to the one that played in Genoa. “We will have only 15 players available; there are many absentees, but we have valid alternatives, and there will also be some Primavera players ready to help us if needed. Da Cunha played well in Genoa, and I am happy with him. He is a player with quality and technique, and he has shown he can play in that role while adapting well to Serie A.”
Reflecting on the recent performance in Genoa, Fabregas emphasized the need for his team to be more decisive in both penalty areas. “We need to learn to be concrete and incisive, especially in both boxes. It’s true that we played well in Genoa, but we must stay focused at all times, especially during key moments when matches are won.”
Fiorentina arrives at Como after achieving six consecutive victories and maintaining an impressive unbeaten streak over eight matches. Fabregas commented on their form: “They are a very strong team with many important players who attack deeply and are skilled in ball possession. Palladino is a young coach who has done well at Monza and is now doing great work in Florence. For us, it will be a very difficult match, and we must be very focused to earn important points.”
