Fabregas disappointed after Como’s narrow defeat to Torino

Start

Como manager Cesc Fabregas expressed his frustration following his team’s narrow 1-0 loss to Torino in Serie A. Despite the defeat, Fabregas remained optimistic about his team’s performance and future prospects.

Addressing Braunoder’s error that led to the goal, Fabregas emphasized the importance of team unity: “We are a family more than ever. He’s a golden boy who gave us so much for promotion. Football is like this, now it’s important to show that we are a growing family. This is the message to learn: football is not fair, we deserved much more.”

Fabregas praised his team’s overall performance, stating, “Only Juventus has been stronger than us; in the other matches, we deserved much more. It was a game to win. I’ve seen Torino this year, and there was a feeling they had great respect for us.” He added that football had not been fair to Como, not just in this match but in the last 5-6 games. Fabregas believes that their 9 points in the league table do not reflect their true performances.

Regarding young player Nico Paz, Fabregas called for patience: “He didn’t have a great first half, but in the second half, he adapted to the situation, and we changed his position to make an impact. In the end, he was tired. He needs to continue growing and he’s young. We can’t think about what people say; he’s a player who just turned 20, and we need to stay calm. We all need to have patience and manage him well.”

Despite the disappointment, Fabregas remains confident in his team’s approach: “I like that today the team didn’t concede chances to Torino, except on counterattacks where they are strong. This is the right path. Playing like this, I want to think that football will eventually reward us.” He concluded by acknowledging the difficulty of accepting such a loss after a strong performance against a formidable team like Torino but emphasized the need to look ahead and continue improving.
