Europa League | FC Twente v Lazio: Probable starting lineups

Start

Lazio are set to face FC Twente in the Europa League on Thursday evening, with Matteo Guendouzi being given a rest for the match in the Netherlands. The Biancocelesti aim to continue their perfect start in the competition, having secured six points from their first two games and currently sitting in third place in the standings, just behind Galatasaray and Bodo/Glimt, who have played one match more.

Head coach Marco Baroni confirmed during his pre-match press conference that Guendouzi will not feature, which could see Fisayo Dele-Bashiru take on a deeper role in midfield compared to his recent performances.

Pedro, who joined Baroni at the press conference, is expected to start and may play centrally, flanked by Mattia Zaccagni and Loum Tchaouna on the wings.

FC Twente will be without Moroccan midfielder Younes Taha for their upcoming match against Lazio due to a long-term injury. Manager Joseph Oosting may consider making several adjustments to the lineup that recently drew with RKC Waalwijk, but key players like Michel Vlap and Sem Steijn are expected to retain their spots in the starting eleven.

Taha’s absence is a significant blow for Twente, as he has been an important player for the team. Despite this setback, Vlap, who scored against Fenerbahce, and Steijn, who has been directly involved in nine of the team’s 16 league goals this season, will be crucial as they look to secure a positive result.

Twente (4-2-3-1): Unnerstall; Van Rooij, Hilgers, Bruns, Salah-Eddine; Vlap, Regeer; Van Wolfswinkel, Steijn, Van Bergen; Lammers.

Lazio (4-2-3-1): Mandas; Marusic, Gigot, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Vecino, Dele-Bashiru; Tchaouna, Pedro, Zaccagni; Dia.
