AC Milan’s Emerson Royal appears to be on the brink of departure from the club, with his agent expected to arrive in Italy to finalize the details of a potential transfer. Calciomerato report that the Brazilian right-back, who joined Milan last summer, is likely to leave before the end of the January transfer window, which closes on February 3rd.
Despite being a regular starter in the first half of the season, Milan have decided to part ways with Emerson to make room in their squad for Kyle Walker, whose transfer from Manchester City is nearing completion.
Galatasaray have emerged as the frontrunner for Emerson’s signature. The Turkish club’s option is appealing to the player, and negotiations have been ongoing for days, intensifying in recent hours. However, the deal is not yet finalized as Milan is not entirely satisfied with Galatasaray’s offer, which currently stands at around 13 million euros including a paid loan and purchase option. Milan’s CEO, Giorgio Furlani, is looking to recoup the investment made last summer when they acquired Emerson from Tottenham, starting negotiations at 15 million euros.
While Galatasaray lead the race, English clubs are also in the mix. Emerson’s agent, Stefano Castagna, has been actively exploring options in the Premier League. Everton has made an inquiry, while Fulham is considering a permanent offer of 12 million euros. These negotiations are now in advanced stages.
Castagna’s imminent arrival in Italy suggests that a deal could materialize between tonight and tomorrow. Although Galatasaray is pressing hard and remains the favorite, the player reportedly prefers a return to the Premier League.
