Dybala: ‘The Olimpico is like having an extra player’

Start

Roma forward Paulo Dybala heralded the clubs supporters in helping them make a comeback against Feyenoord and secure a place in the Europa League semi-final: ‘the stadium is like an extra player.’ The Giallorossi needed extra time, but still put in one of the performances of the season to rout their Dutch opponents in a 4-1 win, with Dybala helping start the comeback. Speaking to Sky Sport after the match (as quoted by RomaPress), La Joya singled out the clubs amazing support ahead of the match as a contributing factor to their victory, and the explained why having a coach like Jose Mourinho helps the squad:

“The trip from Trigoria to the stadium was incredible, It was fantastic to see so many people on the streets.”

“The stadium packed with 70,000 fans helps you in times of difficulty, it’s like an extra player on the pitch with you.”

“At 2-1 people kept pushing, and in the end we got what we wanted. When they scored, I was a bit scared, but we equalized and then won in extra time. That felt good.”

“Our ambition? We all want to win, the coach has an incredible mentality. Mourinho had told us that the game would be like this. This team knows what it means to win in Europe, the mentality is there. There are just a few games left, we hope to continue like this and get us to the final.”

“Mourinho? We all know him. He’s won everywhere he’s been. His mentality is enough to pull you in, he knows how games go, he knew today’s match could go like this and he pushed us to give something more.”

“The moment he changed the gameplan, the team got the result and we played better. We deservedly won. I hope I can continue like this and that the team continues like this. We will give our best to play in the final.”
