Roma’s Paulo Dybala was ecstatic to resume first-team action within the Giallorossi’s 1-1 draw against Torino.
Since the attacking dynamo suffered a muscular strain after converting a penalty against Lecce, the Argentine missed over a month of the campaign. However, Dybala recovered and was set to continue where he left off since his move from the Bianconeri.
After being subbed on in the 59th minute, The 29 year-old made his mark immediately upon his return as he served as the stimulus within the front-line, putting forward a substantial amount of vibrancy and ingenuity in the capital club’s offensive play.
The Argentine served as a lifeline, firing a marvellous curler off the wind-work after beating his marker in order for Nemanja Matic to seal the equalizer from long-range for the Giallorossi.
While speaking an interview with Dazn, relayed by LaRoma24, Dybala expressed how happy he was to play alongside his teammates again after being held on the sidelines for a prolonged period:
We were very impressed by the ovation of the stadium. How happy are you with the return to the field?
“I have always said that people’s affection has been incredible. I worked a lot these days, I wanted to play. I would have liked to come back earlier, but for a matter of timing I couldn’t do it. Today I spoke to the coach and told him that I was available despite being called up for the World Cup. I wanted to help the team ”.
How do you feel?
“I worked hard, I tried to be at my best for today and I succeeded”.
Should you have taken the penalty?
“No, it didn’t say who was supposed to kick him. Sometimes the decision is a matter of seconds, I raised my head and Belotti had the ball in his hand. He felt like kicking and I left him. For me there is no problem, he is a striker who has scored many goals. Unfortunately today he missed the penalty, but it could have happened to anyone ”.
