Dortmund and Newcastle Prime Contenders for Dean Huijsen’s Signature

Start

Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United currently lead the race to sign Dean Huijsen from Juventus this upcoming summer, as reported by sources close to the Italian club. At Dortmund, the 18-year-old defender is seen as a potential successor to Mats Hummels, while Newcastle seek to bolster their defensive options following Sven Botman’s prolonged injury absence.

De Telegraaf report that Huijsen, who still has a contract with Juventus until mid-2028, seems to be pushing for a departure if he does not receive more playing time. In the first half of the season, he made just one appearance for the Old Lady, against AC Milan. However, at Roma, where he is currently on loan until the end of the season, he was immediately given the opportunity to start in Serie A matches. With twelve appearances to his name, he alternates between the bench and the starting lineup in Rome.

According to Italian media reports, Juve are keen on using Huijsen as part of a swap deal with Atalanta involving Teun Koopmeiners, but so far, Dortmund and Newcastle are the only serious contenders.

According to De Telegraaf, the price tag for the Dutch-born player is at least €30 million. Additionally, during this international break, Huijsen made his debut for the Spanish  team.
