Donnarumma: ‘The fear was so great’

Start

Italy and PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has spoken about the home invasion that took place yesterday: “The fear was so great.” The 24-year-old and his partner, Alessia Elefante, were the victims of a violent robbery that took place at his Paris home on Thursday evening. Speaking with Libero, the shot-stopper recounted the evening and explained his feelings of powerlessness and fear for his partners wellbeing during the horrible event:

“To find yourself at 3 a.m. suddenly finding people in the house I think is the worst feeling you can have.”

“I was immobilized and Alessia was forced to hand over everything we had of value. I can’t go into too much detail, there are ongoing investigations and I’m on my way now to the French police to try to reconstruct with them everything that happened. This morning, my fiancée and I had to leave the apartment to allow inspections to be carried out and to carry out the findings useful for the investigation, and we temporarily stayed in a hotel.”

“The fear was so much, but even more was that something might happen to Alessia. I was helpless, tied down, I couldn’t do anything. Then I don’t speak French that well and it was hard to explain to those people where all the things were. And it was Alessia, still now very frightened, together with them. Really frantic moments of deep terror, especially fear for her. Fear that they might hurt her.”
