Roma are on the brink of bolstering their defence with the acquisition of veteran German defender Mats Hummels. The club has intensified negotiations in recent hours, successfully reaching an agreement to bring the experienced player to the Italian capital.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports how despite some initial challenges in finalising the deal, the final details have been ironed out following a day of discussions between Roma’s representatives and Hummels’ agent, Stefano Sem.
Hummels is expected to arrive in Rome on Wednesday at noon to undergo medical examinations and sign a one-year contract, as per his request. This move comes as Roma seek to strengthen its defensive lineup under the guidance of manager Daniele De Rossi.
The decision to reignite talks with Hummels was made swiftly, bringing the negotiations to a critical juncture. Hummels, who was released by Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer, will soon join the Giallorossi, contributing his wealth of experience and defensive prowess to the team.
