Juventus have made another significant move in the transfer market, finalizing a deal for Chelsea defender Renato Veiga. The Italian giants have been actively seeking a central defender to numerically replace the injured Gleison Bremer, who has been sidelined with a cruciate ligament rupture.
Calciomercato report how, after weeks of negotiations, Juventus have successfully secured Veiga’s services.
Cristiano Giuntoli’s trip to London on Monday proved crucial in paving the way for the Portuguese defender’s move to Turin. Initially resistant, Chelsea eventually agreed to a loan deal, with Juventus set to pay €5 million for Veiga’s services until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old Veiga, formerly of Basel and a product of Sporting Lisbon’s youth academy, had already given his approval for the transfer. Giuntoli attempted to include a purchase option in the deal until the last moment. However, Chelsea remained firm on this point, and Juventus ultimately agreed to a straight loan without a buy option. As a result, Renato Veiga will return to England on June 30th.
