Roma have agreed terms with Championship side Leeds United for the return of Spanish centre-back Diego Llorente. The defender spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan with the Giallorossi and despite a muddled start, he went on to become a key part of coach Jose Mourinho’s team, filling in reliably in the back-line.
Reports from Italy had suggested that the club would push to bring the 29-year-old back to the capital this summer but still had to agree terms with Leeds.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that there is now a ‘total agreement’ between Roma and Leeds for Llorente’s transfer. Once again, the move will be a loan, however it will include certain stipulations and conditions that could make the transfer permanent.
Should the Spaniard appear in 50% of Roma’s matches in the coming season then the club will be forced to buy him for €5m.
