Juventus man Angel Di Maria has been called up to Argentina’s latest national team squad and at the age of 35, he is still hoping to continue to be a part of head coach Lionel Scaloni’s plans and is looking towards the next Copa America in 2024. La Albiceleste are the defending champions of the competition and Di Maria even scored the winner in the final against Brazil back in July 2021. Since then, Argentina have been crowned world champions for the third time in their history after their triumph in Qatar last winter and were met by huge celebrations back home in Buenos Aires. According to Tuttosport, Di Maria shared his thoughts on the latest crowds that surrounded Lionel Messi, his future with the national team and what he thinks about the next young Argentine talent Claudio Echeverri.
On the Argentina fans:
“To see people like that is amazing. The madness of the people impressed me, what happened with Messi in the restaurant is incredible. Everyone is asking us for tickets. It’s very nice for us, we hope that tomorrow will be a beautiful day, a party, that everything will be quiet outside. We are eager to experience what awaits us tomorrow. The important thing however was December 18 thanks to Leo. Tomorrow will be something crazy like when we came back here after the world championship.”
On his future with La Albiceleste:
“I will certainly continue. Every time I come here it is something unique, it is the most beautiful place where one wants to be. New goals? To win again and continue on this path Here come the qualifiers and another Copa America: we have to be ready.”
On young talent Claudio Echeverri:
“I have seen him very well, it is nice that even the younger ones can enjoy all this. You can see that he has a lot of potential.”
