The agent of Napoli full-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo suggested that his client is ready to leave the club this summer. The Partenopei captain has been linked with a move away from the Stadio Diego Maradona in recent weeks, and speaking with Tv Play, agent Mario Giuffredi seemingly confirmed the player is ready to depart:
“Di Lorenzo has recently confirmed that the lack of confidence from Napoli towards him has become a reality. He has therefore informed sporting director Manna that without the necessary confidence, he wants to leave Napoli. There cannot be a captain who is not trusted by his club.”
“Di Lorenzo had a conversation with Manna in recent days, in which he expressed his feelings about the lack of confidence from the club towards him. In response to this statement from the captain, the sporting director expressed his personal strong esteem, but from President De Laurentiis, there seems to be a willingness to sell if an offer comes in. At that point, Di Lorenzo understood the president’s stance, feeling a lack of confidence.”
Di Lorenzo has been with Napoli since 2019 and has been captain since 2022 after Lorenzo Insigne’s departure. This year, he signed a contract renewal with the Azzurri club until 2028, which had suggested a career end in Naples. “Until today,” said Giuffredi, “we had never thought of leaving. We never imagined leaving Napoli: we signed a contract to stay for life. This has always been Giovanni’s desire. However, everything changes if the club expresses this sentiment. After the rumors, several top clubs have called. We made our decision based on what was communicated to us. It is right to close a chapter.” The agent also expressed confidence in the arrival of Antonio Conte on the Azzurri bench: “Conte is the only remedy to heal this Napoli. As a Neapolitan and Napoli fan, one can only be happy about Conte: he is a winner, a guarantee for the project. We wish him the best of luck. However, we want to move forward on our own path, seeking another project that gives great confidence to Di Lorenzo.”
