Venezia manager Eusebio Di Francesco spoke to the the media in a post-match press conference following his team’s 2-2 draw with Monza at the U-Power Stadium. The coach offered insights into the team’s performance and areas for improvement.
When asked about his satisfaction with the match, Di Francesco said, “With numerical superiority, we could have been more dangerous, and I was asking for different space occupation in this regard. Perhaps we were too hasty. We don’t have a Djuric to rely on in certain situations, but we need to play a different game.”
Di Francesco expressed contentment with the team’s approach to the game, stating, “We played the first half with great aggression, knowing we could also concede something. But I wasn’t concerned because I preferred to stay more in their half. I like to defend with possession, and the first part of the game was done well.”
Addressing the defensive errors that led to Monza’s goals, the coach emphasized the need for improvement: “The level of attention must be raised, and we need to be more collaborative defensively. Training can make a difference in improving our flaws. Honestly, given how the game was going, I hoped for something more, but this point gained in Monza is also good.”
Di Francesco also touched on the challenging schedule, noting, “Considering we’ve played twice as many away games, I’m not happy with this calendar. But it’s okay.”
When asked what the team needs to achieve victory, Di Francesco concluded, “We must continue what we’re doing. Improve in training and perform well in matches; the concept of work is important.”
