Di Canio: “Ranieri has an enormous task ahead”

Start

Former Lazio, Milan, Juventus, and West Ham striker Paolo Di Canio, now a TV commentator for Sky, shared his thoughts on Roma’s current struggles following their recent managerial change. With Claudio Ranieri replacing Ivan Juric, the team has yet to see an immediate turnaround, as evidenced by their 1-0 defeat to Napoli with Lukaku scoring the lone goal.

Di Canio, speaking from the Sky television studios, didn’t hold back in his assessment of Roma’s situation:

“Ranieri has an enormous job to do, not so much in terms of technical or tactical issues. He has eternal immunity; it will never be his fault, rightfully so, given what he represents. However, arriving in such a condition and having to be alone in favor of everyone, not against, but in favor of everyone, trying to help both on and off the field, is truly difficult. The objective? A comfortable survival. I hope he can manage it.”

The former striker also highlighted the challenges facing key Roma players, particularly Bryan Cristante and Lorenzo Pellegrini:

“The difficulty won’t be so much in limiting errors like defensive shifts. There are Pellegrini and Cristante who are in a particular situation in Rome. They are players who should be helping newcomers to settle in, but they face the difficulty of being pointed out as those who are in charge and not performing. This will be the most difficult task; he will need to recover them because they are necessary.”
