Denzel Dumfries set for Inter contract renewal

Start

Denzel Dumfries is set to return to Inter Milan tomorrow morning after his international duties with the Netherlands. The right-wing back started both Nations League matches against Bosnia (a 5-2 victory) and Germany (a 2-2 draw), scoring his seventh goal for the national team in the latter game.

At Inter, Dumfries continues to compete for a starting position with Matteo Darmian, who was not called up to the Italian national team by Luciano Spalletti and has remained in Milan to train under Simone Inzaghi’s guidance.

Calciomercato report how In the background, negotiations for extending Dumfries’ contract, which is set to expire in June 2025, are progressing. The parties have reportedly reached an agreement to increase his salary from €2.5 to 4 million net per year. Thanks to the Growth Decree, this will cost Inter €5.2 million gross instead of 7.4 million.

The new contract is expected to include a release clause of approximately €15-20 million , valid for foreign markets. This clause could provide Inter with some protection while also potentially facilitating a future transfer if a suitable offer arrives.

Dumfries joined Inter in the summer of 2021 for €14.25 million from PSV Eindhoven. Since then, he has scored 11 goals and provided 20 assists in 134 appearances for the Nerazzurri. During his time at Inter, he has already won six titles: one Scudetto, two Coppa Italia, and three Italian Super Cups.
