Former Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero praised Massimiliano Allegri but suggested he could say more about the future if he is one day allowed to decide. The Bianconeri are without a win in their last four matches and have dropped firmly out of the title race against long-standing rivals Inter. Speaking with Sky Sport Italia, Del Piero shared his thoughts on the situation, suggesting he might one day have an impact on the future of the club:
“Max? Last year, Allegri wasn’t just good, he was excellent. He was heroic in creating an environment that could lead Juventus to the Champions League despite everything that happened. Even this year, he has various merits like Yildiz and others who have come in.
“In a situation where things aren’t going well, it’s clear that Allegri has his responsibilities, as does everyone, from the staff to the players. There are situations that need to change over time; if you play for Juventus over time, you have to improve, you can’t be the same player as when you arrived. If one day I can decide, I’ll tell you something; right now, I can’t tell you if he’s leaving or staying (laughs).”
“Title race? Juventus had to get close to Inter. It’s true that Juventus must think about going to the Champions League, but they always keep an eye on the Scudetto. It would have been a more intense championship.”
