Deal agreed: Douglas Luiz to complete Juventus move next week

Start

Juventus are finally set to complete the transfer of Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, with Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling-Jr heading to the Premier League. The deal has been in the works for several weeks, and was originally expected to include USMNT midfielder Weston Mckennie, however his failure to agree terms led to a last minute change.

Sky Sport Italia, Gazzetta dello Sport and numerous others now report that a deal has been agreed between the two teams. The Italian giants are set to pay Aston Villa €22 million plus easily achievable bonuses, potentially raising the total to €24-25 million.

In addition to the cash payment, Juve will include the transfers of Barrenechea and Iling-Junior to Aston Villa, along with a percentage of any future resale.

The total value of the operation is estimated to be around €50 million. Notably, Aston Villa’s request to include Matías Soulé in the deal was rejected by the Bianconeri, who were unwilling to part with the young talent.

This transfer marks the second major signing for Juventus under new manager Thiago Motta, following the acquisition of Di Gregorio. Douglas Luiz, known for his box-to-box midfield play, will bring versatility to the Juventus squad.
