Following the Nerazzurri’s convincing 3-0 victory over Sampdoria, Inter center-back Stefan De Vrij expressed his positive emotions after a sealing a vital win.
Despite having a difficult start to this year’s campaign, the Dutchman has managed to find his stride as he displayed a fabulous defensive performance within the back-line at the San Siro, as well as earning himself a goal as he headed home a well-delivered corner from Hakan Calhanoglu.
Speaking to Dazn, relayed by Fc Inter News, De Vrij touched upon his insight regarding his performance and the significant result within their home-stomping ground:
More happy with the goal or the defensive test?
On a personal level it’s always nice to score, but we defenders knew we had to improve and now we can see the improvements. I’m happy not to have conceded a goal, we want to continue like this.
What is the moment in which you have turned?
I think against Barcelona at home. We came from two league defeats and the approach was right with an opponent who held a lot of ball. We played an important game, we were focused and we took it home.
What months have you lived? What do you need this goal for?
The goal is always good to help the team, when I can help the team and I want to look forward. The last goal in the league was with Sampdoria.
More useful is the comparison in the team or these victories?
The confrontation was before the match with Barcelona and it was very important. From then on we saw a different spirit and team, now it is important to continue on this path.
Who do you want to dedicate this goal to?
To my girlfriend who is also pregnant. I will become a father and we are very happy.
