La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has a plan to keep Victor Osimhen in Naples for at least one more season. The Nigerian striker has been at the forefront of the Partenopei’s push for the Serie A title, being linked with PSG, Manchester United and Bayern Munich along the way.
Osimhen has found the net 21 times in Serie A this season, putting him on course for the Cappocannoniere title, with Lautaro Martinez sitting in second place on 15 goals.
Gazzetta outline how the 24-year-old currently earns €4.5m a season plus bonuses and is Napoli’s highest earner. De Laurentiis plans to increase the players salary and revise his existing deal, which is set to end in 2025, offering him additional year of contract with improved bonuses included. There would also be larger performance-related incentives for the striker, which could see him earn close to €1m in additional bonuses.
The newspaper also outlines how other European elite clubs could offer Osimhen higher wages, but the allure of remaining in Naples after winning the title might be an additional incentive to have him stay with Napoli.
