Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis says the club expanding in it’s popularity and he plans to have 200 million fans around the world. The Partenopei celebrated their scudetto win in style, with the Diego Maradona stadium sold out for the festivities, while Naples was lit up by fireworks throughout the night. Speaking with Sky Sport Italia (as quoted by TuttoNapoli), De Laurentiis explained the monumental moment and why he has plans to keep growing the club beyond Italy:
“Napoli belongs to everyone, criticism is there, it is legitimate, but I have always been a winner in life, I used to smile. But football is complex, one has to guide one’s thoughts in the chaos: it would be easier if it were not considered a real entertainment industry. In Italy we have 10 million fans, and in the world, only the Western one, 83 million, but we are increasing, in China they follow us, in Georgia as well, in Korea with Kim I won’t tell you what’s going on: soon we could become 200 million fans in the world.”
“When I went to see Spalletti three years ago, and then saw him arrive in Naples, I understood that a new cycle would begin. He is a great man, a real man who works with dedication and commitment.”
“An adjective for this title? The ‘first’ Scudetto. You always begin again from a starting point, and this one is: seeing all these happy people makes me fulfilled, much more than anything else.”
