De Laurentiis Hopes to Avoid Another Dismissal, Giampaolo a possibility

Gazzetta Dello Sport report that another shake-up on the Napoli bench is not on the agenda at the moment, but the situation is critical and will be addressed as such. The newspaper outlines how club president Aurelio De Laurentiis left the Stadio Maradona with a dark expression following their 1-1 draw with Genoa on Saturday afternoon, saying:

“Ngonge may have only postponed a turnover, which will not happen before the Champions League match against Barcelona: on Wednesday, Mazzarri will play a piece of his future, and another disappointing performance could lead the club to push for dismissal, in an extreme attempt to give a final signal to the fans and players. The name of Marco Giampaolo is a hypothesis, probably not the only one. But De Laurentiis hopes to avoid another dismissal and still relies on a surge of pride from the team.”

Naples based news site IlNapolista are critical of the Partenopei president, pointing to De Laurentiis’ handling of Victor Osimhen’s contract renewal, writing:

“The management of the Nigerian’s departure is a textbook case of poor management of a workgroup, and also raises some doubts about the corporate culture. De Laurentiis vainly chased the Nigerian all summer long and – after a series of skirmishes, gaffes, arguments – he caught him at the last minute before the growth decree expired. In order to secure the return of the 120 million clause for his sale, he granted him a retroactive renewal. Osimhen signs the makeshift renewal with the clause in exchange for an annual salary of ten million euros net. With the logical consequence of increasing discontent in the locker room where, for example, there is Kvaratskhelia whose salary does not reach one and a half million euros. Kvara is not the only one dissatisfied. Teammates observe that the player who earns three times and four times (and even more) than all the others, lives rather casually as a member of Calcio Napoli. He stays out for fifty days, returns late, doesn’t play against Genoa. Not to mention the arguments of the previous months.

On the other hand, at Real Madrid, Florentino Perez is making it known to everyone that the Casa Blanca is not willing to bow down to Mbappé. That Madrid is ready to welcome the French superstar but on the terms of the parent company. These are the necessary and sufficient conditions to avoid a Osimhen case in Madrid. With the necessary differences because, with all due respect, Victor is the distant cousin of Kylian.

Florentino evidently has different ideas about the importance of the group and business management. Not surprisingly, El Chiringuito (a show very close to Florentino: but you have to know how to handle home men, it’s a role that must be carried out with style, competence, and savoir-faire, otherwise you’ll be seen as waiters) recorded a five-minute video in which it was made clear that if he were to accept Madrid’s offer, Mbappé would not earn more than Bellingham or Vinicius. Real Madrid doesn’t change even for the strongest player in the world. It acknowledges his value, of course, but doesn’t trample every single rule of group management. It knows that otherwise, there would be a disaster.

Obviously, these conversations between De Laurentiis and Florentino Perez remain at a very superficial level. Too much.
