Belgian midfielder Charles De Ketelaere admits that he would rather remain with Atalanta than end up on the bench at Milan. The 23-year-old has spent the season on loan in Bergamo, and has already scored 10 goals across all competitions, having failed to find the net once in Milan in 2022-23.
Speaking with HNL, De Ketelaere opened up about his future between Milan and Atalanta, revealing he would prefer to make the permanent switch to La Dea:
“I feel very good at Atalanta. I learned a lot from the tough season with Milan. It helped me take steps forward, and it will continue to help me. From a good season, you learn a lot, but you learn even more from seasons that aren’t as good.”
Speaking about his present at Bergamo, he emphasized, “Here, I found the right environment for me and a style of play that only Atalanta could offer. Gasperini? We play a really beautiful football, and all the players know what they have to do. Mister Gasperini is strict but fair. Redemption? If it were up to me, I would stay at Atalanta, also because I can improve. Milan is a great team, but at this moment, I need to play, and I don’t want to end up on the bench again. Atalanta is helping me a lot: from the staff to the teammates, to the fans who made me feel at home.”
