Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi says he will return to Roma, despite being linked with Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton. The 23-year-old came very close to making the switch to the Giallorossi in the summer but a move failed to materialise at the final minute.
Frattesi is a Roma supporter and came through their youth academy, but joined the Neroverdi in 2017 for €5m plus a 30 per cent cut of any future sell-on fee.
Roma were expected to get the 30 per cent discount last summer but the two clubs failed to agree terms, despite coming very close to arranging a move.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Frattesi confirmed that he is looking to return to the capital club in the near future, saying:
“Following the disappointment of the summer, I will return to Roma, because it would be coming full circle for me.”
His full interview with the Rome-based newspaper will be out tomorrow, but the quote dispels the idea that he could reunite with De Zerbi at Brighton and Hove Albion, despite their strong interest in the midfielder.
