Brazilian defender Danilo finds himself at a crossroads in his Juventus career. Recently marginalized from the first team and put on the transfer market, the 33-year-old has been making waves on social media rather than on the pitch.
Calciomercato report how the player’s recent Instagram activity has caught attention, with posts featuring him on a snowy vacation accompanied by captions like “Peace of mind” and “Reset, restart, refocus.” Another photo shows him smartly dressed in a suit and tie, smiling confidently. These posts have garnered likes from teammates, including Dusan Vlahovic, leading some to interpret them as coded messages to the club.
Following Juventus’ return from the Supercoppa in Saudi Arabia, the team resumed training in preparation for the Turin derby. Danilo, no longer wearing the captain’s armband, trained separately from the main group under Thiago Motta’s orders. Like Arthur, he was excluded from the Supercoppa squad, awaiting a definitive solution after the fallout with the club.
Cristiano Giuntoli, Juventus’ sporting director, has stated that the club is working with Danilo’s representatives to find a mutually satisfactory resolution. Despite having a contract until June, Juventus is keen to offload Danilo immediately, primarily for financial reasons. The Brazilian currently earns €4.2 million until June, benefiting from the Growth Decree, a cost the management is eager to cut.
Several clubs have shown interest in Danilo, including Al-Nassr and Vasco da Gama, with the Milan option now off the table. However, Napoli appears to be the frontrunner. Antonio Conte’s team sees Danilo as an ideal fit: experienced, versatile, and capable of playing across the defensive line.
The transfer negotiations are ongoing, with Napoli reluctant to overspend and Juventus seeking around €2.5 million as compensation for an early release. Both parties are working towards an agreement, with the understanding that Danilo is likely to don the Napoli blue, either in January or by June.
