Danilo’s Juventus Exit Imminent: Napoli Move on the Horizon

Start

Juventus and Danilo are on the verge of parting ways, with the Brazilian defender’s contract resolution nearing completion. This development paves the way for his anticipated move to Napoli, expected to be finalized by the end of January. Despite interest from Brazilian clubs, Danilo has chosen to continue his career in Serie A.

While Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has dominated headlines, Gazzetta dello Sport report how Napoli’s sporting director Manna has been quietly working on several fronts during this intense winter transfer window. The defensive reinforcement, initially a top priority, is yet to be finalized, though the target has long been identified. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Danilo is set to bolster Napoli’s backline.

Manager Antonio Conte had hoped to have Danilo available from the start of the new year, but Juventus’s initial reluctance complicated matters. The Turin club, despite having decided to end Danilo’s tenure six months early, initially attempted to obstruct the move.

Negotiations between Danilo and Juventus regarding contract termination have been ongoing. Once resolved, the Brazilian will be free to sign with his preferred club. Napoli is the expected destination, where Danilo’s leadership and experience will be valuable assets to Conte’s squad.

This outcome wasn’t always certain, as Danilo had considered returning to Brazil for the twilight of his career. However, feeling still in prime condition, he’s opted for one last European adventure. A contract with Napoli, spanning 18 months, is anticipated to be signed by the end of January.

Napoli had also explored the possibility of signing Milan Skriniar as a contingency plan. The former Inter defender, currently surplus to requirements at PSG, was available on loan, independent of the Kvaratskhelia deal. However, his high wages proved a stumbling block for this option.
