Roma coach Daniele De Rossi’s asserts that no one will be happy to face the Giallorossi in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Roma had all but booked their place in the last eight of the competition when securing a 4-0 win over Brighton in the first-leg of their last 16 clash. Speaking with /, De Rossi explained why his side will be formidable opponents, and also gave credit to his players for their performances over the two-legs:
“Credit goes to the boys; most of the work was done in the first leg, but today, we put in a serious performance. We took a step forward in terms of personality. Baldanzi trains well every day, had an excellent game, and gave his all, as did everyone else. He’s becoming a true player.”
Continuing his analysis, De Rossi highlighted areas for improvement, saying, “We could have managed possession better. When we have the ball, we need to be cleverer and move better to find space between the lines. When we play long balls, sometimes it works well, as it did in the first leg, and sometimes less so. Once you’ve beaten the press, you need that split-second of thought to realize you can manage the situation better.”
Reflecting on the team’s fitness and progress, De Rossi noted, “I found a team that was already in good physical condition. Everyone trains hard, and if we add a bit more clarity, we’ll enjoy ourselves. Unlike in recent years, no big teams have fallen, but it’s part of the journey if we want to move forward. It’s very stimulating and exciting. No one will be happy to face Roma in the quarter-finals.”
