Daniele De Rossi Acquires Ostia Mare: A Heartfelt Return to His Roots

Start

Former Roma midfielder and manager Daniele De Rossi has made another decision close to his heart by purchasing Ostia Mare, the club where he began his football journey from 1997 to 2000. This move not only marks De Rossi’s transition into club ownership but also saves the Serie D side from potential bankruptcy.

On Thursday, De Rossi officially acquired the shares of the club from former owner and president Roberto Di Paolo. Despite still being under contract with Roma as a manager for another two and a half years, De Rossi has chosen to invest in securing the future of his childhood club.

The financial commitment is significant, as Ostia Mare was facing the risk of insolvency before De Rossi’s intervention. One of the immediate challenges the new president will face is addressing the issues surrounding the Anco Marzio stadium, the club’s home ground. The facility has been closed for several months due to safety concerns, and plans are now in place to demolish unauthorized structures and ensure the stadium meets safety standards.

De Rossi’s ambition for Ostia Mare is clear: to elevate the club to Serie C and establish it as the third team of the capital city. This goal will require building a strong management team and a network of scouts and observers to identify talent.
