Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister, Elma Aveiro, has responded sharply to recent criticisms made by former Italian footballer Antonio Cassano about the Portuguese superstar. Cassano’s comments, made on the show “Viva el Futbol,” sparked controversy when he claimed that Ronaldo doesn’t know how to play football.
Cassano had stated, “When it comes to playing football, compared to him, Higuain, Aguero, Lewandowski, Benzema, Ibrahimovic, and Suarez knew how to play with their strike partner, with the team, they knew how to do many things.” He went on to suggest that Ronaldo was the antithesis of football when compared to his idol, Lionel Messi.
In response, Elma Aveiro took to Instagram to defend her brother and criticize Cassano. She wrote, “A person wakes up to these things. I don’t know this poor man and I’m not interested. But I’ll just tell him one thing, if Ronaldo doesn’t know how to play and has scored 900 goals, imagine if he knew how to play.”
Aveiro didn’t stop there, comparing Cassano to a clown and adding, “They say he was a football player, I think they were mistaken, in reality he was a ball boy.”
