Coppa Italia | Milan 3-1 Roma: Match Report

Start

AC Milan secured a convincing 3-1 victory over AS Roma at the San Siro to progress in the Coppa Italia. The Rossoneri’s performance was highlighted by a stellar display from Tammy Abraham, who netted twice against his parent club, and a dream debut goal from João Félix.

The match began with both teams showcasing their recent transfer window acquisitions. Milan’s Kyle Walker retained his starting position following the derby draw with Inter, while Youssouf Fofana made a return from suspension. Roma’s lineup featured Paulo Dybala, Leandro Paredes, and Mats Hummels, fresh from their recent draw against Napoli.

Abraham opened the scoring with a magnificent looping header, capitalizing on a rebound from Tijjani Reijnders’ long-range effort. The English striker doubled Milan’s lead before halftime, expertly beating the offside trap and calmly slotting past the goalkeeper.

MILAN (4-3-3): Maignan; Walker, Tomori, Pavlovic, Hernandez; Musah (89′ Sottil), Fofana, Reijnders; Jiménez (70′ Leao), Abraham (58′ Gimenez), Pulisic (58′ Joao Felix).

Roma showed signs of life in the second half, with Artem Dovbyk pulling one back after a defensive error. However, Milan’s new signings would have the final say. Santiago Gimenez, making his debut, provided a clever assist for fellow newcomer João Félix, who delicately chipped the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper to seal the victory.

The win sets up an intriguing semi-final for Milan coach Sergio Conceicao, who will face one of his former clubs – either Inter or Lazio. The match also saw the debut of Riccardo Sottil, who recently joined Milan on loan from Fiorentina.
