Napoli manager Antonio Conte addressed the media ahead of his team’s crucial Serie A match against Atalanta, emphasizing the long-term vision he has for the club.
Conte began by acknowledging the challenge posed by Atalanta: “We face a strong team that won the Europa League last year. They deserve credit, especially Gasperini, who has done extraordinary work over the years.”
The Italian tactician provided an update on player fitness, stating, “Lobotka will be ready for the next match. Gilmour adds value to our squad.”
Discussing the team’s progress, Conte said, “I’ve found a group of players willing to work hard. We’re always in ‘work in progress’ mode. Their attitude is accelerating our growth process.” He stressed the importance of patience, adding, “We shouldn’t expect to make multiple leaps in this process. We must stay focused and continue working, even during less favorable moments.”
Conte praised Atalanta as a model to emulate: “Atalanta can be an example for us. Year after year, they’ve built steadily, despite losing important players. We must set ourselves steps to aspire to great things.”
Addressing title aspirations, Conte said, “Miracles? I’m a believer, and I know only one person who performs them. My prayers include my players. We’re trying to build something that can last over time.”
The manager emphasized the importance of unity: “Napoli wins and Napoli loses as a team. It’s wrong to attribute specific merits to a player or coach. We are one entity. I don’t want to take credit for what are temporary achievements after only 10 matches.”
Conte concluded by highlighting the role of enthusiasm: “Enthusiasm should be our fuel. We must demonstrate our sense of belonging to the shirt in every single match.”
