Napoli manager Antonio Conte addressed the media in a press conference ahead of his team’s upcoming match against Venezia at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. With Napoli currently sitting second in the Serie A table, Conte discussed the team’s ambitions and recent performances.

When asked about the possibility of finishing in the top four, Conte was characteristically ambitious: “Entering the top four? I never like to sign up for minimal goals, those who know me know this very well. Everyone knows their own objectives and where we started from, I would never sign up for a minimal goal. We must continue to do what we are doing, we have 38 points, which is a lot considering our starting point. We want to confirm ourselves and continue to improve: we must continue to work seriously to get better.”

Reflecting on the recent match against Genoa, Conte preferred to focus on the positives: “I look at the glass half full, I prefer to look at the first half of that game. Matches must be analyzed in their entirety. I have very responsible players and they are the first to have made some evaluations. The second half against Genoa is a starting point to continue improving and to raise the level.”

The Italian tactician also took a moment to assess his first five months at the helm of Napoli: “They have been very intense five months, lived to the fullest. The environment is beautiful, passionate, coaching a place like Naples really gives you a lot. At the same time, it’s a very demanding place in many aspects, but personally I’m very happy. Our goal is to have no regrets. We must always leave the field with the feeling of having given everything.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming match and the end of the year, Conte added: “We hope to close 2024 by giving another joy to our fans, to celebrate the New Year well.”
