Conte praises Kvaratskhelia but stresses need for Improvement

Napoli secured a commanding 4-0 victory over Egnatia in their third summer friendly at the “Teofilo Patini” stadium in Castel Di Sangro. Goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Matteo Politano, Giovanni Simeone, and Cyril Ngonge sealed the win. After the match, head coach Antonio Conte shared his thoughts on the team’s performance and areas for improvement.

Reflecting on the match, Conte said, “After a lot of training with heavy workloads, we are starting to get into a rhythm. Fatigue is normal, and we are working on both offensive and defensive phases. I see a team that plays with intensity and collaborates well. What did I ask of them? To work on both offensive and defensive phases together.”

Despite the victory, Conte emphasized that there is still room for growth. “We can and must improve. There will be situations that arise during the season where we need to get better,” he stated.

Conte also highlighted the standout performance of Kvaratskhelia, saying, “He played a very good game. The type of play we are trying is designed to allow him, Politano, and Ngonge to engage in one-on-one situations and break through. This tactical solution can further enhance these players. When spaces are closed by the opponents’ skill, they need to spread out and create one-on-one opportunities.”

Discussing the team’s ongoing development, Conte remarked, “We are working hard from a tactical standpoint to instill an identity in the team. I am very pleased with the players’ willingness and desire. We have room for improvement. Our next step is against Brest in a few days, and we are working diligently in all aspects: tactical and physical.”
