Como director Ludi: “The Varane signing? We have a serious and solid ownership”

Como’s General Director Carlalberto Ludi has spoken about the club’s recent acquisition of Raphael Varane and their ambitious project in an interview with Sky Sport.

Regarding Varane’s signing, Ludi stated, “We have the strength of a solid and serious ownership with a strong vision for the future. At first, we didn’t believe it was possible, but discussions continued for a few weeks, and the situation eventually unfolded.”

Ludi also addressed the role of Cesc Fabregas in the club’s structure, saying, “He is a central figure in our project. We entrusted him with the role of coach because we believe in him. We have a scouting department, and while Cesc is crucial, he’s not the only one involved in the Como project.”

When asked about the situation of players out of favor at Juventus, including Chiesa, Ludi offered a general perspective: “I don’t comment on other clubs’ situations, but there are tricky cases in almost all clubs. There must be great consistency and alignment with the coach, so when a breakdown occurs, it’s difficult to put the pieces back together. Typically, when there’s a breakdown, it’s because there are market options, and you have 25 days to seize them. The only thing that shouldn’t be compromised, in terms of credibility, is consistency with a decision made on August 5th or 6th.”
