Cioffi: “I Have Great Confidence, Now the Priority is to Work”

Start

Udinese coach Gabriele Cioffi insisted he has confidence in his players, despite a 0-2 defeat against Torino that leaves them teetering above the relegation zone. The Bianconeri have managed just four league wins all season, remarkably beating Juventus, Milan, Lazio and Bologna. Speaking after the defeat, Cioffi reiterated his belief in his squad, saying his team now needs to get back to work:

Cioffi began by saying, “I could tell you that we had three fewer days to recover, but I won’t. It’s right to take responsibility. We were flat; we didn’t expect such a strong start. In the second half, I tried to change the tactical approach, but the result was the same.”

“We roll up our sleeves; I have tremendous confidence in the boys. We need to be smart and understand; the priority is to work.”

Regarding the decision of the fans’ section to leave the stadium, he said, “It must be respected and accepted. I have never spoken about pressure from the fans; we need to be smart in getting through it together. I believe this; I’m convinced that with the love of the crowd, we will overcome it.”

Cioffi concluded, “We need to focus on what we do; we shouldn’t hope that others perform poorly.”
