Chiellini reflects on Juventus and European Football at ECA Assembly

Start

Giorgio Chiellini, Juventus’ newly appointed Head of Football Institutional Relations, recently shared his thoughts on the club’s return to the European Club Association (ECA) and his new executive role. Speaking on the sidelines of the 31st ECA assembly, Chiellini offered insights into this new chapter for both himself and the club.

Addressing Juventus’ return to the ECA, Chiellini emphasized the significance of this move: “It’s a restart, similar to what’s happening in the league with a new cycle. At an institutional level, I’m happy to be part of it and will gradually contribute my part.” He acknowledged that while many faces were familiar, the experience was providing him with new perspectives and learning opportunities.

Chiellini also commented on the new Champions League format, expressing his approval: “I like it. The first two matchdays have been interesting, with many games. Now you start looking at other results, whereas before you only focused on your group’s outcomes.” He added that the full impact of the changes might not be immediately apparent, describing it as “a daily discovery,” but affirmed that “the direction is right.”

Reflecting on his transition from player to executive, Chiellini said, “The path is clear. I’ve been on one road for many years, but now it’s changing. It’s interesting and stimulating to start a new journey in the same world, but from a different side.” He emphasized the newness of his role, stating, “Gradually, I’ll discover what it will be. It’s too early to make final judgments now.”
