Chelsea are considering to alter their strategy regarding Romelu Lukaku, potentially scratching the idea of extending the Belgian’s loan deal with Inter for an additional season.
Following the 29 year-old’s return to the San Siro on a season loan with a fee of 8 million euros after having left for the London Blues only a season ago for a hefty fee of 115 million euros, Chelsea were willing to extend the striker’s loan deal next season for an additional 10 million within the summer transfer window.
However, it seems that the Premier League giants have changed their initial thoughts regarding their future with Lukaku.
According to reports from Calciomercato, Chelsea are contemplating on offloading Lukaku on a permanent basis to another club in order to gain more financial resources, rather than simply loaning him out to the Nerazzurri for an additional year.
Based on the Milanese club’s financial situation, Inter are in no position to acquire the Belgian international on a permanent deal, putting a lot of pressure on the club to potentially explore for a replacement striker within the near future.
