Cesare Prandelli confirms retirement from coaching

Start

Former Italy and Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli has confirmed his retirement from coaching: ‘My next bench? In the park with the grandchildren.’ The 65-year-old last coached in Florence for the 2020-21 season but resigned from Fiorentina in March 2021, issuing a statement that hinted it would be his last coaching role.

Speaking on Radio Anch’Io Sport on Radio (as quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport) Prandelli officially confirmed that he will no longer be accepting coaching roles and also touched on the form of Dusan Vlahovic, a player he knows well from his time at Fiorentina: :

‘The passion remains, a great passion. I am very well, everything else passes. A few requests always arrive for coaching roles, but at the moment the bench I am dreaming of is the one in a park with my grandchildren to enjoy life with them. No more coaching.”

“Dusan? You can miss penalties, but the reaction he had in the next fifteen minutes was that of a great player. He tried to score in every way, he was also unlucky. I think he is a very strong player. The problem is a team one. Difficult moments are there for everyone, but I still underline the reaction after the penalty.

“Juve’s youngsters are all very interesting, but the one with the most technique and quality is Nicolo Fagioli.”
