Castellanos’ Lazio future uncertain, club asking for €20 million

Start

Taty Castellanos, Lazio’s Argentine striker, finds himself at the heart of a potential transfer saga as the summer window heats up. The Roman club’s president, Claudio Lotito, has set a €20 million price tag for the forward, signaling that while not actively looking to sell, they would consider substantial offers.

Il Corriere dello Sport report that the intrigue deepens as Atletico Madrid closes in on signing Artem Dovbyk from Girona, potentially triggering a domino effect in the striker market. This move could prompt Girona to reignite their interest in Castellanos, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Spanish club last season, netting 13 goals in La Liga.

Castellanos’ future at Lazio seemed secure following Ciro Immobile’s departure, with the Argentine expected to lead the line alongside new signing Noslin. However, sporting director Fabiani’s recent comments suggesting no player is truly “unsellable” have fueled speculation about potential moves.

The striker himself has shown commitment to Lazio, changing his shirt number to 11 and looking for a new home in Rome. Yet, the allure of Champions League football with Girona could prove tempting if an offer materializes.

Should Castellanos depart, Lazio would be forced back into the striker market. Potential targets include Boulaye Dia from Salernitana, with whom Lazio previously had an agreement, and Giovanni Simeone, who’s expected to leave Napoli. Udinese’s Beto, now at Everton, and Panathinaikos’ Fotis Ioannidis are also mentioned as possibilities, though the latter seems close to joining Sporting Lisbon.
