Former Roma forward Antonio Cassano believes there was a ‘resounding gulf in quality’ between Inter and Milan in last nights Champions League semi-final. The Nerazzurri stormed into a 2-0 lead in the opening 11 minutes and could have had a third, but for an overturned penalty decision. Speaking on BoboTV (as quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport), Cassano spoke of how Inter ‘overpowered everything’ in terms of quality, personality and experience between the two sides:
“There was never a match between the two, Inter were favoured and even stronger given the moment. You saw a resounding gulf in quality, personality, experience, everything: Inter overpowered everything. I was under the impression Milan had no weapons to do anything: they only rely on Leao and if you take that away from them, Milan is linear. Dzeko and Lautaro taunted Kjaer and Tomori, Calabria and Theo were tarred. Inter deserved it, far and wide: it is true that anything can happen, but I see it as very dark for Milan right now.
“Inter 2-0 is tight at 2-0, in the first half they could have scored two more: there was a gulf between the two teams. Inzaghi? I am the first to criticize him, in the league he deserved to take a beating: but in the cup he makes few mistakes. In the return leg, if Inter is like this, there is no match.
“Inzaghi? I would keep him only if he lifts the cup: one month cannot exclude 20 months done badly, because last year he threw the Serie A down the drain, despite being much stronger than Milan. If Inter loses the final but gets into the top 4? I’d change him. But I exaggerate the problem even more: if Inter wins it, I celebrate, but for me they shake hands and one goes right and one goes left. I say more: for me if he wins, he will leave.”
