Antonio Cassano has once again taken aim at AC Milan’s Rafael Leão, challenging the widespread perception of the Portuguese winger as a football phenomenon. In his latest appearance on “Viva El Fútbol,” the former Italian footballer didn’t hold back in his criticism of Leão.
Cassano pointed out recent high-profile transfers to question Leão’s perceived value in the market. “Manchester City decided to buy Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt for 75 million euros. The same amount Paris Saint-Germain paid for Kvaratskhelia,” Cassano stated. He then posed a provocative question: “If someone wants Leão, they can go and get him. Why don’t the top teams in the world – Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City – consider him?”
The outspoken pundit continued his argument by referencing another recent big-money move: “Mudryk, they paid 100 million for him. Why do they go and get these players, and the phenomenon that you describe, nobody gives a damn about? Question!”
This latest critique follows a pattern of Cassano’s harsh assessments of Leão. Earlier this month, he had stated, “I reiterate that Leão doesn’t have the guts… It’s easy to respond after the Supercoppa; meanwhile, on Saturday he played poorly again.” Cassano even suggested that Leão “should stick to being a rapper instead; that suits him better.”
Leão, known for his potential and occasional brilliance on the field, has faced increasing scrutiny this season due to inconsistent performances. The 25-year-old winger has previously responded to Cassano’s criticisms on social media, once labeling him a “clown” using emojis.
