Cassano Inter Critique: “Inzaghi Hysterical on Wednesday, Has a Ferrari but Struggles to Innovate”

Former Inter Milan striker Antonio Cassano has delivered a scathing assessment of the Nerazzurri’s recent performance, particularly targeting manager Simone Inzaghi following the team’s draw against Bologna in their Serie A catch-up match. Cassano, known for his outspoken nature, didn’t hold back in his criticism during his appearance on the Twitch program “Viva el Futbol.”

Cassano began by praising Bologna’s performance, stating, “I saw a great Bologna, with a coach who, with all due respect to the players, made them play like a top-class team. For the first twenty minutes, they dominated with quick ball possession and one-on-ones. Inter turned the game around with a great goal from Lautaro Martinez, and I thought it was heading their way, but the second half started with Bologna continuing to play well.”

The former striker also took a moment to commend Bologna’s young forward Santiago Castro, predicting, “For me, within two or three years, he will become really strong: I like him, he’s aggressive and knows how to protect the ball. If you put him with people who can help him improve, he’ll become something special.”

However, Cassano reserved his harshest words for Inter manager Simone Inzaghi. He criticized the coach’s tactical inflexibility, saying, “Simone Inzaghi has a Ferrari at his disposal, capable of winning 38 out of 38 games, but he only plays 3-5-2. If the players are in good form, he wins, but if he needs to invent something, he struggles. If you encounter a coach more skilled than you, like Italiano, he puts you in difficulty.”

Cassano then described Inzaghi’s sideline behavior during the match: “On Wednesday, he was hysterical on the bench, then he talks about a short squad and injuries. But you have 25 players, a second team that could win the championship. Yet you draw with Bologna and barely win against Venezia. Now you’re three points behind and have to win in Florence, which won’t be easy.”

The former Inter player expressed concern about the team’s current form, suggesting that Inzaghi might be losing his grip on the squad. “I expected Inter to have five or six more points. I don’t know if it’s just the coach’s fault because the players need to do more, but the players aren’t stimulated to do something different,” Cassano explained.

He concluded by echoing Fabio Capello’s sentiment about the need for change after a certain period, stating, “Capello is right when he says that after four or five years, the players understand me, so either I leave or I change ten players. A habitual coach gives little, and Inter, which is by far the strongest and will win the Scudetto, has something that’s not working.”
