Cassano: ‘If it applies to Juve, it must apply to everyone’

Start

Former Roma forward Antonio Cassano believes the point penalty handed to Juventus should apply to all clubs in Serie A who are guilty of ‘plusvalenza’. The Bianconeri were handed a 15 point penalty yesterday following the reopening of an investigation of inflated capital gains linked to play transfers.

Speaking on ‘BoboTV‘, Cassano, usually one of Juve’s biggest detractors, surprisingly came to the aid of the Bianconeri, expressing his anger at the decision:

“Juve’s point penalty? I say one thing: if it applies to Juve, it has to apply to all the teams in Italian football, because obviously Juventus are covered in 50 pages of the newspapers, the others all in the small print.

Let’s not think that only Juventus did this stuff here, if they really did it. All the other teams will be there, because the law must apply to everyone (…).

If we’re talking about capital gains, here we have to understand…I hardly say Juve, because football-wise it’s shitty but in this case here, ‘I’m part of Juve,’ that is: if they made a mistake it’s right that they should pay, even a Serie B, C etc. but it has to apply to everyone and I think that if they really make this stuff here apply to everyone, it won’t be just Juve but there will be an avalanche of teams in Serie C, B etc. I’m convinced of this.”
