Cassano criticizes Inzaghi: “He has 20 players better than each other, playing well Is the minimum”

Former Inter Milan player Antonio Cassano has launched a scathing critique of current Inter manager Simone Inzaghi, claiming that the coach’s success is merely a product of the talented squad at his disposal. Speaking on the show “Viva el Futbol,” Cassano argued that Inzaghi has only truly improved two players in his tenure.

“Last year he won the championship, but I’m not surprised,” Cassano began. “Because he must win the championship… but he should have won three, and this year he must win the fourth. I shouldn’t be amazed if they play well, because he has the players, he has 20 players stronger than each other, and Inter is obligated to win the championship. I can’t venerate a coach who has won one championship and thrown two in the toilet. I don’t see extraordinary, exceptional work… I always see the same identical thing.”

Cassano did concede that Inzaghi has positively influenced two players: “I’ve only seen two improvements thanks to their coach: one is Thuram, who I didn’t think could do so well and is continuing to do even better this year, the other is Dimarco.”

However, the former striker was quick to criticize Inzaghi’s performance in European competitions: “So why should I go and venerate a coach who took a beating from a less strong team in the Champions League (Bayer Leverkusen), and doesn’t play good games because even with Leipzig he didn’t play a good game, with Arsenal he was outplayed?”

Cassano also questioned Inzaghi’s management of certain players, particularly Stefan de Vrij: “Now he’s one of the best playing and doing very well, whom he has always abandoned. I don’t think the credit should be given to Inzaghi. Then obviously if one has good press, they get covered for certain situations, because as long as Acerbi was doing well, he never cared about de Vrij… or am I wrong?”
