Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has weighed in on the speculation surrounding the candidacy of Beppe Marotta for the role of President of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), suggesting it could be an ideal fit:
“Marotta as president of the FIGC? He is a great manager and a great politician; it could be the perfect role for him because he understands the issues of our world,” Carnevali stated in an interview with Radio Serie A.
Highlighting his professional relationship with the Inter Milan manager, Carnevali added, “There has always been great respect; we have worked together in different teams. I have learned a lot from him, both in terms of sports and management and marketing.”
“Our relationship is one of friendship but also of arguments during negotiations because everyone looks after their club’s interests. We have had arguments, discussing players coveted by other clubs for whom negotiations were ongoing, and we couldn’t reach an agreement.”
On the prospect of working together again, Carnevali concluded, “It would be fantastic to work together again, depending on what he will do in the future. I would like that; there is always something to learn from him.”
