Capello: “Milan finally showed some desire, but it was too easy. Juventus? Thiago Motta needs time”

Former coach Fabio Capello analysed the performances of Milan and Juventus against Venezia and Empoli in his column for La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato). Milan secured a 4-0 victory, while Juventus disappointed with a 0-0 draw.

Regarding Milan’s performance, Capello stated, “Milan’s victory was almost too easy. Venezia immediately opened the door for them, with Joronen’s complicity, and then there was no contest. In the Rossoneri, I finally saw desire, determination, running, and liveliness: they tried to quickly move towards the goal. Of course, they were aided by Venezia’s approach, but it was a positive signal that was needed for the fans, the environment, the club, and the coach.”

Capello particularly praised Fofana, saying, “I especially liked Fofana: he is very important for Milan’s midfield and never let his guard down.” He also commended Leao, describing him as “the usual devastating player when he goes down the wing: he just needs a bit more consistency.”

Turning his attention to Juventus, Capello urged patience with new coach Thiago Motta: “Thiago Motta should be allowed to work: Juventus is a team in the making, they have made many signings, there are many new faces, and finding the right blend immediately is not easy.”

However, Capello didn’t shy away from criticizing Juventus’ performance against Empoli, stating, “But to get results, you need more quality, more pressing, more speed. And all of this was lacking against Empoli.”
