Capello: “Inter need Lautaro. Vlahovics’ reaction? I hope he was angry with himself…”

Former coach Fabio Capello shared his insights on the current state of Serie A as the league heads into the Christmas break. With Atalanta surprisingly topping the table, followed by Napoli and Inter, Capello emphasized the importance of the upcoming fixtures.

Regarding the contrasting approaches of Antonio Conte and Paulo Fonseca during the break, Capello stated, “From the outside, you can’t say who’s right. Only the coach breathes the atmosphere of his team’s locker room and decides accordingly.”

On Napoli’s recent performance, Capello noted, “Napoli suffered a lot against Genoa. It’s worth noting that all the top teams won, but with considerable effort. Napoli had an excellent first half, then in the second half Meret was decisive, otherwise no three points.”

Discussing Inter’s recent victory, Capello observed, “They weren’t as brilliant and aggressive as other times, but in the end, the success is legitimate. Even if Lautaro continues not to score, Inzaghi remains the favorite for the Scudetto.”

Capello praised Atalanta’s progress, saying, “They’re no longer a surprise. Empoli, however, put the team in great difficulty with one of Gasperini’s strengths: pressure on the ball.”

Regarding Juventus’ recent win, Capello expressed some reservations: “They finally managed to win at Monza, but I’m still not fully convinced. Good first half, in control, with Koopmeiners doing well in midfield, then in the last 20-25 minutes they just thought about defending.”

On Vlahovic’s reaction to being substituted, Capello was critical: “I hope he was angry with himself and not with Thiago Motta. I don’t understand such attitudes; I find them a serious lack of respect towards the coach and the teammate who is entering in your place. Dusan may have been nervous about not being able to score, but it’s not okay.”
