Venezia head coach Eusebio Di recently addressed the media regarding the team’s upcoming match against Verona in the Serie A derby. The match is set to take place on Monday evening, marking a significant event in the 22nd round of the league.
In his press conference, Di Francesco discussed various topics, including the future of Joel Pohjanpalo, a key player for Venezia who has drawn interest from Palermo during the winter transfer window. Di Francesco acknowledged the impact of transfer rumors on team dynamics but emphasized the need for focus and resilience among his players. He stated, “We are aware that the market shifts balances; we must be good at distancing ourselves from it, and I have received positive responses from the boys. Beyond the derby, results are important, and I am confident regardless of who will be on the field.”
When asked about injuries within the squad, Di Francesco confirmed that some players are returning to fitness. He mentioned that **Candé**, who recently joined the team, is likely to start in the upcoming match. “Candé can be a starter. He trained yesterday; we are recovering some players,” he noted. Furthermore, he expressed optimism about other players returning from injury, specifically mentioning Zampano’s return from suspension.
Di Francesco also provided insights into Candé’s playing style and potential contributions to the team. He described Candé as having similar characteristics to Sverko and highlighted his versatility: “He can play more in a four-man defense than in a five-man one; he needs to understand my and the team’s requests. He is a smart boy and can also play as one of three central defenders.”
On another note, Di Francesco addressed Duncan’s situation, revealing that his recovery is taking longer than expected. “Duncan is still not recoverable; his injury has extended more than we hoped. We thought he would return this week, but unfortunately, that is not the case,” he said.
